Season three of Orange is the New Black is coming this summer and although there are lots of theories surrounding what the new season will be like, one question that remains unanswered is, will there be a season four?

The Netflix show has already gone off the rails from the book but even so, they can't keep this up forever. Main character Piper's prison sentence is relatively short. Still, even if they've altered the truth a bit, Netflix is unlikely to cancel the award winning show just yet.
There may even be hope on the horizon as the author or the original book, Piper Kerman, is working on another book, reports Providence Journal. The new book will not be about her but instead focuses on the trials of other prisoners.

This could turn into source material for a new show, or spin off of Orange.
Nothing could come of this at all. We know that Jenji Kohen, show creator, often does her own thing when it comes to her projects and she may leave the source material altogether and create an Orange that is very different than the book that it was based on.
This is plausible as the main story with Piper has waned a bit last season. Even though she is still the main character, side characters have really stepped up to have more engaging stories and plot. If this trend continues, it will not be hard to quietly remove Piper from the show altogether and focus on some of the other inmates instead.
Season 3 of Orange is the New Black returns to Netflix in the summer.
