Previous seasons have given us (SPOILERS) the Red Wedding and the literally crushing defeat of Oberon Martell at the also literal hands of The Mountain. Every season seems to have a least one moment where fans are left clutching their pearls in horror at the brutal world of Game of Thrones.

These have generally just been a single scene but Clarke's comments correlate with what other actors from the show have been saying. That this season would be bigger (and bloodier!) than the pasts seasons.
This could be because the HBO series has to tie up loose ends and move the plot along faster than the books. They're running out of source material.
Then there's the question of what these scenes will be. People who have read the books have a few ideas of what is coming for the next season. This includes the (brace yourself, spoilers are coming) death and possible resurrection of Jon Snow.
We know that the White Walkers are still out there and although there will be no Lady Stoneheart, that doesn't mean we can't get Cold Hands still.
Game of Thrones returns to HBO on April 12.
