According to the Wall Street Journal, Sprint will soon announce that they will make the iPhone available on their carrier Virgin Mobile as early as the beginning of July. This would make Sprint the second carrier to offer the iPhone on a prepaid basis, Cricket being the first.
We don't know the exact pricing details for Sprint, but Cricket will offer the 8GB iPhone 4 for $399, and the 16GB iPhone 4S for $499. with a $55/month unlimited plan. Might be better to hold out for Sprint though, because as the Wall Street Journal noted in its report, "Cricket's markets only covers about 60 million people compared to Sprint's coverage of nearly the entire US."
As for the July date, Sprint's making this move awfully late for a phone as old as the iPhone 4S, which leads me to suspect that they know something about the release of the iPhone 5 that we don't...
Apple's WWDC is less than a week away (June 11th), keep it here for more info as it becomes available.
