Season two of Orange is the New Black left a villain shaped hole for season three. There is one character who may be affected more by Vee's death than anyone else. Taystee will have to truly learn to live on her own.

In season two we learned that Taystee and Vee had a past. A very close one. It was Vee that originally pulled her from the orphanage and "raised" her. Of course, the woman also used her and despite Taystee's desires to get away from the criminal element, it was Vee that kept pulling her back in.
From season one we learned that Tastee had no one on the outside which is why when she was let out, she ended up right back behind bars.

Although, could it really have been that she got caught up in Vee's dealings again and got caught, once again?
Now that the woman is dead, Taystee will have to navigate an existence where there is no Vee, nothing to fall back on when she does get out. This could cause Tastee to become more independent and sure of herself in the coming season.
This could further push a divide between herself and Poussey as the season goes on. Taystee may find that her friendship with the other woman is based on need and not on true friendship. This would explain her lack of main character storyline for the coming season.
Orange is the New Black returns to Netflix during the summer.
