The latest footage from e3 featuring the new Assassin's Creed III protagonist, Connor Kenway, makes us stupidly excited for the minor tweaks that are emerging since the start of the series. Mobile hay piles, corner assassinations, being able to run on trees and the ability to run and pick up weapons all were subtly revealed yesterday during Ubisoft's press conference at e3.
In the gameplay walkthrough, we're treated to Connor running and hunting in the woods before he has to fend off a pack of wolves from his kill. At first it seems like the hunting mini-games from Red Dead Redemption, but then we find out these little sub-missions appear to be peppered throughout the sprawling levels of New England, Boston and New York.
Moving around again in a later trailer showcases the naval battles that take Connor to the Caribbean in 1777, complete with a non-Assassin themed outfit, but dare we say he looks a little Patriotic in the hectic video:
If the weather effects seem extreme, it perfectly captures an old-school naval battle as if we were just watching Master and Commander: The Far Side of the World. Weather factors into the landlocked adventures as well, since different periods will see soldiers acting differently in the cold of winter than the summer, along with frozen bodies of water.
Assassin's Creed III comes out October 30th for Xbox 360 and Playstation 3 and considering there are four pre-order packages, it wouldn't hurt to snap up the simplest and wait later for the DLC.
