The Halo 5: Guardians Beta received a small update today ahead of the Week 3 map and setting rotation.
Our Halo 5 Guardians Beta Impressions
The beta prompts a small content update when opened, and 343 wrote a brief blog post announcing the patch. Unfortunately it's rather vague, and extremely light on details:
"The next time you log into the Halo 5: Guardians Multiplayer Beta, you will be prompted to download a small content update, which includes a variety of backend updates and improvements. Thank you for your continued participation and feedback as we continue to improve and refine the Halo 5: Guardians Multiplayer experience. We'll see you on the battleground!"
That's all we get from Community Manager Andy 'Bravo' Dudynsky, who usually releases more specific patch notes. Backend issues aren't the most exciting, so perhaps 343 is asking us to take it on faith that the game should now run more smoothly.
Minecraft Player Builds Working In-Game Word Processor, Is Much Smarter Than Us
To be honest, server or connectivity updates were needed: matchmaking worked pretty well at first, but search times for games are now sometimes unbearably long. You can get stuck in the post-game intermission, and there's often no way to back out of searching without quitting the beta entirely. In addition to long search times, even for a beta the situation was not ideal.
Hopefully this update has addressed those issues, which would be my guess given that it mentions no gameplay changes. There's little else to the beta aside from some minor character customization, so matchmaking improvements are the logical conclusions. Let us know if you notice any differences!
