News from Iron Man 3 Set

As you can see, there's a new Iron Man suit featured in the new film. The picture comes courtesy of superherohype.com, who report that the man in the suit is NOT Mr. Tony Stark, but instead...

SPOILERS

Eric Savin, played by James badge Dale. Now in the comics, the costume was given the guise of "Iron Patriot," and was worn by the OG Green Goblin, Norman Osborne. Eric Savin, on the other hand, would eventually become the cyborg Coldblood. No word on whether the characters are being merged, but I wouldn't expect to see Willam Dafoe making an appearance. But then again, it's anyones guess with the Marvel movie-verse.

Also rumored is that the armor could be "Detroit Steel" armor designed by Iron Man 2 villain Justin Hammer. The Mandarin is already ties to the first Iron Man film with the group that kidnappend Tony, the 10 Rings (the mandarin's source of power were 10 alien rings he wore that gave him different abilities). But this Detroit Steel idea could make for an interesting connection between the second and third movies. Hammer did get access to Stark's suit for a short time. Who knows if he could've made copies?

In other news, it's all BUT confirmed that longtime Iron Man foe "The Mandarin," will be played by Sir Ben Kingsley. However, Latino Review reports that the Mandarin will be more of a "veiled threat as a silent partner," to Aldrick Killian, played by Guy Pearce. The comic version of Killian is responsible for a virus called "Extremis." Originally an attempt at re-creating the super solider serum responsible for Captain America, Extremis was designed to invade a human body's repair center and rewrites their genetic code, oftentimes re-growing entire limbs.

As for the film, Latino Review says that Extremis will be used by Killian to create an army of super-powered individuals, which is where Coldblood and Firepower, played by Ashley Hamilton, may come in.

Now in production, Iron Man 3 is scheduled to hit theaters on May 3, 2013.
