American Horror Story: Freak Show returned last night with "Magical Thinking". The episode showed us the premiere of Chester's (Neil Patrick Harris) magic show. And what a bit of insanity that was.
American Horror Story Season Five Is Confirmed, Murphy Left Clues In Early Episodes of Season 4
The episode opens with Stanley (Denis O'Hare) and Jimmy (Evan Peters). Stanley convinces Jimmy to let go of one hand in exchange for a large payment. He agrees and take some drugs that make him violently ill. Stanley is prepared with a fake ambulance and whisks him away.
When we next see Jimmy, coming out of drug haze, he's hand-less and shackled to a bed. Not only did Stanley take both of his hands but he also turned him back into the police. What a jerk!
American Horror Story Says Goodbye To Long Time Cast Member, May Be Adding A New One
Del (Michael Chiklis) comes to see his son in the hospital and they have a heart to heart and reconcile their relationship. How nice.
Meanwhile, back at the Freak Show, Chester is making eyes at Dot and Bette (Sarah Paulson). Dot and Bette are making eyes at everyone in an effort to get laid. They settle on Chester who, surprise! Sees two completely different women when he looks at them.
Chester leaves the freaks to speak to Elsa about doing a magic show. Elsa refuses but then realizes the slightly creepy man is good with numbers so she offers him a chance to help out with books in return for letting him do his show.
Bette and Dot decide that he's the one to make real women out of them and have an intimate moment with him. Before that happens however, we learn that his wife had a female lover and he used to watch the two after the war.
Dandy (Finn Wittrock),you didn't think he was going to be left out did you, gets wind of Chester, Dot, and Bette's affair from the PI that he's hired. He's not pleased.
Paul (Mat Fraser) is on to Chester right away as he keeps catching Chester talking to Marjorie, his puppet. He also tells Chester that the freaks tried to buy the show but Elsa turned them down. Elsa then calls Chester to the tent where she sells him the show.
In finding out more about Chester, Dandy's PI reveals that he murdered his wife and her lover claiming the puppet did it. We see a flashback of the murder from Chester's point of view where Marjorie in human form is murdering the women. On the one hand, he's probably crazy pants, on the other hand, the spirit of Halloween did show up to steal someone's soul so, the puppet could actually come to life.
Either way, Dandy is impressed.
Del and the Strong Woman plot to rescue Jimmy from prison. They basically just cause a car crash and kill the cops. It was not a sophisticated heist.
Chester comes back from his meeting to find Marjorie gone! He freaks out and in his frantic searching finds Dandy, in an awesome fur coat, who tells him where she is. Chester finds her in the big tent in her human form. She tells him that she wants to saw the girls in half. Pleasant.
Meanwhile Maggie goes to see Elsa and shows her Ma Petite's body because we have to constantly be reminded of that. Elsa freaks.
Del also makes it back home to be greeted by Desiree with a gun. She makes him confess to the killing. Before she can act, Elsa shoots Del in the head from behind. Don't mess with her beloveds.
Things are really starting to heat up. Did you get all that from the promo? It feels like more happened in this episode than much of the season. How are they going to wrap all of this up?
