Activision has released some very notable franchises/games over the years and so I thought, why not do a run-through of ten video games that we all have heard a lot about and/or have played a few dozen times?
Quick run-through of prior nominees:
#10: "Crash Bandicoot" series
#9: "Spyro the Dragon" series
#8: "Marvel: Ultimate Alliance" series
Now for #7...
#7 "X-Men"
The X-Men are a superhero team in the Marvel Comics Universe. Each member displays a unique superhuman ability and has made their presence known since the 1960s, in comic books. Members of the X-Men team include: Wolverine, Colossus, Cyclops, Rogue, Marvel Girl, Beast, Storm, Iceman, and Night crawler just to name a few.
On July 6, 2000, Activision presented X-Men: Mutant Academy, for Game Boy Color and PlayStation. A Nintendo 64 version was scheduled, but it was eventually cancelled. Nonetheless, the game was so successful that two sequels were created, X-Men: Mutant Academy 2 (2001) and X-Men: Next Dimension (2002).
The following are other video game titles published by Activision:
X-Men: Mutant Wars (2000)
X-Men: Reign of Apocalypse (2001)
X-Men Legends (2004)
X-Men Legends II: Rise of the Apocalypse (2005)
X-Men: The Official Game (2006)
X-Men: Destiny (2011)
In 2000, the Marvel Comics characters came to life in theaters in "X-Men," and development began as far back as 1989. "X2: X-Men United," was released in 2003 and the trilogy, "X-Men: The Last Stand," in 2006.
Presently, X-Men has been in a lot of headlines, after the creative team behind the X-men comic book series announced that a major gay superhero will be marrying his partner in its pages next month
According to E Online, Marvel Editor-in-Chief stated, "The Marvel Universe has always reflected the world outside your window, so we strive to make sure our characters, relationships and stories are grounded in that reality."
Like many games, X-Men has come a long way and will only continue to develop further.
Be sure to check back for #6!
