If you ever stayed awake at night, questioning what an Asian version of "Grand Theft Auto" would be like, be distressed no longer! "Sleeping Dogs" will answer every question you have, just so long as it's "Wasn't this already done before with True Crime?"
"Dogs" follows undercover cop Wei Shen as he infiltrates the Triad, attempts to bring them down and deals with the occasional conflict of interest in order to maintain his cover. The "101" trailer details everything in the game, from learning martial arts to showcasing some of the automobile acrobatics that Shen employs while in a casual car chase.
On top of that, there's the option to purchase new clothes and accessories, that have been the mainstay for sandbox games ever since "Grand Theft Auto 3" gave us the option to play virtual dress-up. The only possible difference is that ultimately you're playing as a cop rather than foreign national or gangster who is just blowing up the city by whatever means necessary. Still fuzzy about how this is different from the "True Crime" series? Technically isn't as Square bought the rights for the unproduced "True Crime: Hong Kong" from Activision, but not the name! So if you've been waiting the last seven years for the next installment in GTA: Cop, your dreams are fufilled.
"Sleeping Dogs" comes out on August 14th on 360 and Playstation 3.
