When notorious producers announce the releases of a new game, expectations tend to run high. Activision has released some very notable franchises/games over the years and so I thought, why not do a run-through of ten video games that we all have heard a lot about and/or have played a few dozen times?
#10 was "Crash Bandicoot"... admit it, you experienced a bit of nostalgia. So, brace yourself as we fly on over to #9 of the Ten Top Popular Games by Activison.
#9: "Spyro the Dragon" series
I grew up playing "Spyro the Dragon," which was first released in 1998, and so have seen how he has transformed over the years, first-hand. This feisty, purple dragon may have been small, but players knew not to be fooled. Ramming his enemies with his long horns and breathing fire were Spyro's two primary abilities, until later games introduced power-ups to let Spyro spit fire balls, breathe ice and fly.
Activision took over as publisher in 2008 and introduced gamers to The Legend of Spyro: Dawn of the Dragon, co-published by Sierra Entertainment. It was the 3rd and final installment in "The Legend of Spyro" trilogy. Gamers were finally able to witness the free-fly mode, allowing a player to fly at any time they want and it also featured a co-op mode with Cynder.
Activision also introduced Skylanders: Spyro's Adventure (2011) and Skylanders: Giants (2012). For the web, the publisher welcomed Skylanders: Spyro's Universe and Skylanders: Cloud Patrol for iOS. As of April 5, 2012, Activision has sold over 25 million Skylander toys.
Spyro will always be a cherished video game character that brought a sense of adventure and determination to millions.
The Spyro series has sold more than 20 million units worldwide.
