If you happen to find yourself in lovely Seattle, Washington tomorrow Saturday December 13 you should definitely stop in and try your hand at eSports as part of Red Bull LAN Seattle.
They're Zombies. They're Vikings. They're...Zombie Vikings, Coming To Steam In 2015
Fancy yourself a better than average DOTA 2 player? Test it against 100 other competitors in an open registration. But be warned, professionals may turn up at the event to thoroughly put you in your place. A handful of globally ranked eSports pros will join in the action. Teams are created randomly and reshuffled after each match, giving DOTA 2 devotees the chance to compete alongside a “gaming genius”. Or at least a guy who gets paid to play video games.
Think of it as a low stakes game of pick-up basketball, only one that is far more entertaining than the now defunct Supersonics. The 5-player teams will be chosen at random, and reshuffled after each match. Players are awarded a $10 Steam gift card for every match win, and the top performer will win an all-expense paid trip to the Red Bull eSports North American event of their choosing in 2015.
Assassin's Creed Unity Season Pass Holders Can Get Their Free Game Next Week
The local only event (meaning you can watch from afar, but you have to show up in person if you want to participate) will start at 10 a.m. with an accompanying live stream via the official site.
Young pups can expect to encounter several notable personalities in the eSports world, such as Jimmy ‘DeMoN’ Ho, Wong ‘ChuaN’ Hock ChuaN, Brian ‘FLUFFNSTUFF’ Lee and William ‘Blitz’ Lee as well.
Plenty of the famed Seattle foodtrucks will be on site, as well as a secret Valve swag shop where you can pester overworked employees about Half Life 3. All attendees can receive free giveaways throughout the day.
Seattle can be kind of miserable, weather-wise, so why not bask in the warm glow of row after row of computer monitors?
