Uber has earned the ire of a lot of people and organizations and the company can now add typography lovers to that list. It turns out that the independent taxi-esque company uses the worst font to fire their employees: Comic Sans. All the "you no longer work for us" message needs are hearts to dot the 'I's'.
Uber and Nevada Break Up, Courts are Involved
According to The Independent, a series or emails went out last Friday cutting 15 drivers from the service for using internal promo codes incorrectly. The email read, "Your assignment at Uber has ended effective immediately 12/5/14. Please log into the system and enter your final timecard," in Comic Sans. They got fired in a font that doesn't even take itself seriously.
Two things, one, there is nothing even remotely professional about the font. Yes, it's easy to read but it also says, "You can't take this seriously". You don't need to be an expert at fonts to see that. Two, there's no way a tech savvy company could be completely unaware of how not cool Comic Sans is to use for anything. Anything at all. The whole thing is like a slap in the face.

Of course, maybe Uber has been a bit too distracted as of late to ensure that its communications are being handled properly. After all earlier this month we saw them chased out of Nevada for law violations. They also were recently banned from New Delhi and suspended in Spain. This is just a sampling of current issues. Ouch.
Things are looking a little rough for the service these days.
