The first bug fix for Google's new Android 5.0 Lollipop mobile operating system is now rolling out in an OTA update to Nexus 4 and Nexus 6 phones.
Android 5.0 Hits Google Play Editions Of HTC One M8 And M7
After factory images of the small update appeared on Google's developer site, Phandroid reported that Nexus 4 and Nexus 6 owners can now update their software without having to go through the trouble of flashing their device. Last week, the Nexus 7, 9 and 10 were the first devices to receive Android 5.0.1.
The 5.0.1 update is really nothing more than a small bug fix, though Google did address a potential bug that could have caused some Nexus devices to accidentally perform a factory reset. With the release of the new security features in Android 5.0 Lollipop, Android users could set their devices to reset if it recognized too many incorrect unlock attempts in a row. The 5.0.1 update made it so that Android devices won't recognize any input less than four elements as an unlock attempt, so Android users won't accidentally erase their phone if they unintentionally key in a character or two while the phone is shuffling around in their pocket.

According to the Phandroid report, Motorola Moto G owners can also start updating their phone to Android 5.0.1, but it's only for Google Play editions of the phone that were bought directly from Google instead of through a cell provider.
Of course, many Android users who have a phone from a major manufacturer like Samsung or HTC are still waiting for the original 5.0 Lollipop update. The rollout process is slow for phones that don't run stock Android like Google's devices and instead include custom software from manufacturers or carriers.
