It's been a little over a month since the release of Marvel's "The Avengers," and just last weekend it hit the billion dollar mark in the box office. "Avatar," directed by James Cameron, is currently the highest grossing film of all time, worldwide, raking in over $2 billion.
Fans of the heroic Captain America, Iron Man, Thor and the rest of the crew are awaiting the results of the movie possibly toppling "Avatar" once and for all. According to ign.com, both films reached the $1 billion marker in only 19 days and each holds several box office records.
Currently, "Avengers" is #1 in the box office, but for the title as #1 worldwide-there's a lot to be optimistic about, but you just never know.
