New Destiny Paul McCartney Hologram Music Video Is Baffling, Desperately Out Of Touch

We know what you've been thinking: just where is that Destiny hologram Paul McCartney music video I've been waiting for?

Our Review Of Civilization: Beyond Earth

The delay is finally over as Hope For The Future hits the web today via iTunes and YouTube, as tweeted by the legendary musician's Twitter account. It's an original song set to clips of Bungie's Destiny with a singing hologram version McCartney edited in.

I'm not exactly sure how this mashup came to be, or who thought the end product was worth releasing, but here it is nonetheless. It's cheesy and confusing, but could perhaps aspire to be okay if the video footage stuck solely to appropriate Destiny clips. Instead, holo-McCartney and his uninspired lyrics and vocals make the music video take a turn for the downright bizarre. The whole idea was presumably the idea of a marketing team, but it comes across as desperately out of touch--I don't think someone with such a successful career needs to worry about these gimmicks.
