The news of Street Fighter V leaked last week, meaning Sony wasn't able to do the surprise reveal at PlayStation Experience that they were likely planning. Sony and Capcom still ended up getting the upper-hand on the leakers, though, by showing off a glorious gameplay trailer for the upcoming fighting game.
Persona 5 Confirmed For North American Release
The presenters confirmed what had been rumored during the leak, that Street Fighter V will be coming exclusively to PC and PlayStation 4, giving Sony console exclusivity. They also announced, however, that the game would feature cross-platform multiplayer, meaning friends can connect together and brawl for a few rounds even if one is on a PC and one is on PS4.
The gameplay video shown at PlayStation Experience shows off highlights from a match between Ryu and Chun-Li. All of the pair's iconic moves seem to be intact as the two grapple across the stage. One interesting development shown off is that Street Fighter V looks like it will have some form of level transition mechanic, as Chun-Li smashes Ruy through a door and opens up a new extension to the fighting stage.
Next Legend Of Zelda Title Gets Gameplay Demo At The Game Awards
The Street Fighter news didn't end there, though. Sony also announced that Ultra Street Fighter IV, the most recent form of 2009's Street Fighter IV, is set for a release on the PS4. The Ultra version adds several characters and levels to the game's original lineup, and the PS4 version is said to come packed with all of the currently available costume DLC. This port will mark the first time that the landmark fighting game makes its way to next-gen consoles.
Neither Street Fighter V nor Ultra Street Fighter IV was given a set release date, so don't get too eager to jump into some classic fighting action on next-gen consoles. We might still be waiting for a bit.
