Aside from the game itself and access to Halo Nightfall, purchasing Halo: The Master Chief Collection allows you to play the Halo 5: Guardians beta when it launches later this month.

What has become clear, however, is that this beta will apparently be quite substantial in size. A Reddit user on r/Halo spotted the (not yet available) download on the Xbox Store, listed at 10.27 GBs.
Gamespot, it's worth noting, heard back from a Microsoft representative who stated that the file size is a placeholder, and not final. It is a rather specific number, and would also be difficult to imagine a wildly different size from the real file being used as a placeholder, so expect something in that ball park.

The beta is aiming to be a real trial run of the game in an effort to collect meaningful player feedback, rather than a simple server stress test. According to the team, 343 is ready to take comments and concerns from users and implement changes for popular responses, rather than use the beta just to promote the game.
That said, a network test will surely be an added benefit given The Master Chief Collection's online struggles since launch. 343 claims that the matchmaking issues that have plagued the game (and been gradually improved through a series of patches since) were not made apparent in internal tests. The Halo 5: Guardians beta goes live December 29, and will run until January 18.
