Earlier today, Capcom released a short and very earnest teaser. Street Fighter V is real, and it is happening.
Kingdom Hearts HD 2.5 ReMIX Fan Celebration Trailer Hits You Right In The Feels
With thanks to NeoGAF user UnluckyKate who found the video. Scored to the brilliant Explosions in the Sky song ‘The Only Moment We Were Alone’, the trailer is short on footage from the game but big on emotion. Indeed, it features very little of the upcoming title, but rather focuses on you, the player. People from all over the world have played or know of the Street Fighter series and we catch glimpses of them all. Gamers play, fight, live and love through Street Fighter.
We even catch a bit of the epic Evo Moment #37, the epic bout between pro gamers Daigo and Justin Wong, which was voted the best moment in pro-gaming history by Kotaku.
Ready Player Nolan? Warner Bros Wants Dark Knight Director For Game Novel Adaptation
The Street Fighter V video was ‘leaked’ earlier onto YouTube and has since been set to private. Several mirrors have been put up in its place.
The trailer states that Street Fighter V will be ‘exclusively’ on PS4 and PC. And we all just have to laugh and laugh at that notion. I have no doubt that the game will come out first on PS4, but much like a patent copyright runs out after a few years and is so able to be sold on the market by competitors, the game will no doubt hit Xbox One consoles in the future. Given the ubiquity of ridiculously titled Street Fighter games in the past, every six months brings a new edition of Street Fighter IV, it is only a matter of time before it appears on other consoles.
Capcom has put out a copyright claim, so expect an official version to be out soon.
For those not wanting to endure the trailer, you’re missing out. Explosions in the Sky makes everything the most important event ever. However, here are the salient points, in gif (and jpg) form. With thanks to NeoGAF.
No word on a release date, but you can bet we’ll tell you as soon as we know.
