Victorian London Assassin's Creed Set For Release Next Year, Ubisoft Responds To Leaks Of 'Assassin's Creed Victory'

Next Year's Assassin's Creed Takes Place In Victorian London, According To Leaks

Details of next year's Assassin's Creed game have been leaked and reveal that the 2015 game will take players to Victorian England, according to a Kotaku report.

Patch Incoming For The Master Chief Collection

The name that Kotaku has for this project is Assassin's Creed Victory. This could either be its real name, like when Unity's name was leaked, or it could just be a project codename, like when Assassin's Creed Rogue was leaked under the name Comet. According to the report, Victory will launch next fall for PC, PS4 and Xbox One.

Considering that Kotaku also leaked early images of Assassin's Creed Unity's French Revolution time period, it's fair to say that their source can be considered reliable. We're also slightly ahead of schedule this time around. Unity's leak didn't happen until March.

The report is based on a seven-minute gameplay video that supposedly shows off several new mechanics being added to the series. The British Assassin will be able to get in fights while on top of moving carriages and even sports a slick new tool that could be useful for both combat and navigation: a grappling hook. Another new development is that the game is being handled primarily by Ubisoft's Quebec studio instead of the normal Ubisoft Montreal. Ubisoft Montreal has traditionally been at the head of every mainline Assassin's Creed title, but most Ubisoft studios, Quebec included, have contributed work to the franchise over the years.

Not long after the leak, Ubisoft responded with a statement to many news outlets that gives a little extra credibility to the leak.

"It is always unfortunate when internal assets, not intended for public consumption, are leaked," the statement reads. "The team in our Quebec studio has been hard at work on the particular game in question for the past few years, and we're excited to officially unveil what the studio has been working on at a later date."

The statement then goes on to say that the developer's main priorities at the moment are continuing work on Assassin's Creed Unity.
