Tanki Online Update: Two New Turrets Announced, Changes For Crystal And Gold Drops Confirmed

Tanki Online Brings The Notebook Doodles Of Middle Schoolers To Life By Fitting A Shot Gun On A Tank

The developers behind Tanki Online announced several upcoming changes to the game this week, including the addition of two new turret types, changes with how crystals and gold are distributed in-game, and a new nighttime mode for five of the game's maps.

Telltale's Game Of Thrones Game Is Coming Out This Week

It's a week of big changes for Tanki, with perhaps the most visible change being the announcement of two new turret types. The first new turret is a shotgun-style weapon. The turret will fire in a cone with the ability to hit multiple tanks with one shot. The turret is primarily meant to be a close-range asset. Enemies closer to this turret when it fires will take more damage, while enemies who are farther away will take less. While this new turret already has (unfinalized) in-game models, the developers at AlternativaPlatform are still looking for names and are currently accepting suggestions.

The second new turret type isn't as fleshed out as the shotgun model. This other turret will be more akin to a machine gun, though it is farther away from completion and will be presented in more detail later on.

The Tanki developers also announced a final decision on how they want to treat in-match crystal and gold drops moving forward. After trying different setups and considering player feedback, the team has decided to remove crystal drops entirely, choosing instead to simply make the Battle Fund for matches more valuable. Further, gold drops will now occur 20 seconds after the game gives a notification. This way, players will be able to see where gold is about to drop and fight each other for positioning as they wait for the profitable crate to make its way down to the ground.

In yet another announcement, the Tanki team revealed that it's working on providing a nighttime option for five of the game's levels. When the change rolls out, players will be able to choose the time of day in the level, similar to the way they can currently change seasons on maps. Nighttime maps will add a new level of stealth to the game, as tankers will be better able to navigate unseen under the cover of night. In the beginning, night mode will be supported by the Polygon, Silence, Sandbox, Barda and Rio maps.

There are actually even more changes coming to Tanki, though they're not quite as substantive as the others. For a full recap of the new Tanki changes, check out Friday's V-Log below.
