Razer, the peripherals company known for making advertisements for computer mice way too dramatic, is finally ready to start rolling out its Razer Nabu smartband, with the first batch going up for preorder for Razer Insiders starting next week.

On December 2, Razer Insiders will get a chance to preorder the $99 social and fitness wearable for just $79. If you're not already a Razer Insider, you can still sign up and register for a preorder, but make sure you do so before the morning of November 30, when preorder registration closes up. If you don't make it in time, registration will open back up when the next batch of Nabu smartbands is ready to head out.
The Razer Nabu combines the social and fitness aspects of many of the smart wearables that hit the market this year. Discreet notifications can let you know if you've received a call, text or email, which you can then answer or dismiss easily. The fitness functions track your exercise and sleeping habits while being protected in a splashproof case. Thanks to the band's conservative display, its battery can even last you up to a week.

As an interesting addition to the normal wearable trappings, the Nabu also comes with a kind of social network. Two bands can communicate with each other when placed close together and help their wearers exchange contact information in the form of Twitter handles or Facebook pages. With Nabu, shaking hands with a new acquaintance can be more than just a formality.
When it finishes its full commercial rollout, the Nabu will come in two different sizes and four different colors, though the first batch up for preorder consists only of black bands in the larger size.
