Apple put up a collection of new pages on the Apple Watch website, describing three of the different functions the Apple Watch will accomplish upon its release next year. One of these pages focuses on the Apple Watch's health and fitness capabilities, including its coaching functions and trophy system.
Apple And Fitbit Aren't Playing Nice, But One App Still Helps You Sync Your Fitbit With Apple Health
The new Health and Fitness page on the Apple Watch site goes into the details of all of the features the Apple Watch is going to bring to the fitness table. The first is the Activity app, a graph that shows the wearer's casual exercise activity over the course of a day. This casual exercise includes moving around, brief exercise like running for 30 minutes and simply standing up for one minute once every hour. As the wearer completes these tasks, three rings will fill up, giving him or her an easy way to see at a glance how active they've been that day.
The Activity app pairs well with the Fitness app for iPhone. With the Fitness app, users can see a calendar of their charts from the Activity app, making it easy to see if they've been improving in matching their daily activity goals or if there's one day of the week in particular when they're not being as active as they should.
The Apple WatchKit Is Now Open For Developers To Mess Around In
When you're ready to get some real exercise in, the Apple Watch also includes a Workout app that lets you track pace, distance, calories burned and more throughout longer sessions of running, walking or biking. And if you haven't reached your activity goals for the day, these workout numbers will help fill those up.
No matter which health apps you'll be using on your Apple Watch, the wearable will be working to coach and motivate you. Coaching apps can help you set progress markers to make sure you are reaching your goals each day, and the watch will even include a system of badges to reward you for hitting certain fitness milestones.
In addition to breaking down the wearable's health apps, the new Apple Watch pages include sections on timekeeping and social features. (Thanks, MacRumors)
The Apple Watch is set to hit markets sometime in the first half of next year.
