The launch of Warlords of Draenor not only brought Outland back to the forefront of World of Warcraft, but it also drew in a wealth of new and veteran players curious to see what Blizzard had in store for them.

Blizzard Entertainment today announced that as of the first 24 hours of the expansion's availability, more than 3.3 million copies had sold-through† and the game's global subscriber base had passed 10 million, with growth across all major regions.
WoW originally hit 12 million subscribers back in 2010, a good six years after its initial release. Still, 10 million keeps it on top by a significant margin.
Final Fantasy XIV Hit With DDOS Attacks; Personal Information Is Safe
The launch was not without difficulty. Players were flustered by long queue lines brought on by a vicious DDOS attack. To counteract the loss of gametime, Blizzard offered subscribers an additional five free days of credit to better enjoy Azeroth and Draenor once more.
"We're thrilled that so many players jumped in to play Warlords of Draenor on day one and are having a great time with the new content," said Mike Morhaime, CEO and cofounder of Blizzard Entertainment. "We poured a lot of hard work and passion into this expansion, and we appreciate all the kind words from players and the overwhelming support they continue to show for World of Warcraft."
A new level cap, personalized Garrisons, brand new raids, a stat pruning (which makes it easier for older and newer players to jump back in and not be overwhelmed) all helped to create what is one of the best expansions to date.
