Every launch has its bugs, and Assassin's Creed Unity's launch today is no different. The game's features that utilize the Assassin's Creed Initiates website are currently unavailable as Ubisoft works on fixing connectivity problems between the website and the game.
Assassin's Creed Unity Wants To Give You A Free Xbox One Just For Sending In A Gameplay Video
According to a post on Ubisoft's forums, the developers are aware that players are having problems connecting to the Initiates service through the game, and the issue seems to be happening on all platforms. The developers are still looking into the problem.
Assassin's Creed Initiates is the closest thing the franchise gets to an augmented reality game. Ubisoft has used the Initiates website to engage fans even while they're not in a game by using it as a platform to spread additional lore for the modern-day aspect of the series that doesn't quite fit into the narrative of the console games.
Notre Dame In Assassin's Creed Unity Is A Stunning Replica, But It's Not A Perfect Reproduction
Ubisoft decided to revitalize the Initiates platform to work in tandem with Assassin's Creed Unity. The UI was reworked so that players could seamlessly switch between the game and their console's web browser, which solved a problem that many users had had with previous incarnations of the Initiates service. In Assassin's Creed Unity, connecting to Initiates can grant players a couple of small bonuses. Initiates Chests are scattered throughout the game, offering extra items for players who are able to connect – once the service is back online, of course.
Assassin's Creed Unity drops today for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC.
