Update: Microsoft is currently streaming on its website
HaloFest has been an exciting weekend for fans of the series, highlighted by the $50,000 Halo 2 Anniversary pro tournament. The festivities aren't quite over yet, however, with tonight's live stream set to shift focus to the launch of The Master Chief Collection and the first Halo 5 Guardians gameplay footage.
Halo 5 Guardians Details Revealed: Descoping And Sprint Return
The stream will begin at 11 p.m. EST, 8 p.m. PST, and you can watch in the embedded video below. The launch of The Master Chief Collection is the main reason for the event-it releases at midnight tonight-but it is not the sole reason for the stream.
In addition to the Halo 5 Guardians live gameplay, the first episode of the live action series Halo Nightfall will debut. The content will be part of the Halo Channel on Xbox One, but the event gives fans a chance to watch and enjoy as a community leading into the launch of The Master Chief Collection.
Grand Theft Auto 5 PS4, Xbox One And PC Launch Trailer Released
As far as the competitive Halo scene is concerned (fresh off ESL's Launch Invitational and heading towards the new Halo Championship Series run by 343), a peak at Halo 5's multiplayer will be interesting. With Halo 2 Anniversary, Halo 2 Classic, and Halo 3 on offer within The Master Chief Collection, it will be difficult for the eSports scene to shift to Halo 5 without very good reason. Halo 5's release is still far off, but it's more than safe to say the competitive community will still be interested in either of those three titles in a year's time. 343 must know this, and either have a plan to help Halo 5's multiplayer popularity, or are simply okay with the competitive scene putting its focus elsewhere.
Regardless, tonight's festivities should be enjoyable no matter which game you prefer-the stream below will go live with the event in a few hours.
