It may not be as heavily advertised as Assassin's Creed Unity, but Assassin's Creed Rogue also drops tomorrow, and it's set to be a fitting end to the Kenway Saga and the franchise's farewell to the passing console generation. Here's everything we know about the game going in.

You'll Get to Question the Creed
This has become Assassin's Creed Rogue's tagline, and it sums up the character arc we'll see from Shay Cormac, our protagonist. Shay begins the game as an Assassin, introduced to the Brotherhood by his childhood friend Liam. One of his assignments as an Assassin goes wrong, however, and Shay is left questioning the values of the Brotherhood that series fans have upheld since 2007.
Shay abandons the Assassins and throws in with their eternal enemies: the Templar Order. Shay is introduced into the Order by Haytham Kenway, the Templar featured in the first several sequences of Assassin's Creed III. As a Templar, Shay's mission becomes the eradication of the Assassin Brotherhood in North America, and he'll need to face off against his former partners in order to do so. To help him out, Shay will have access to very advanced weapons, funded by the Templars' seemingly unlimited coffers. These include an early grenade launcher and a continuous-fire gun on his ship, the Morrigan.

Rogue's Setting Combines the Best Parts of AC3 and Black Flag
Assassin's Creed Rogue will have three main locations. The first, New York City, is your typical Assassin's Creed city setting. The second, the American River Valley, is Rogue's take on the Frontier from Assassin's Creed III, an open wilderness setting that's exciting to explore and filled with side missions to take on in your spare time. The last setting is the North Atlantic, a sprawling naval setting quite like the Caribbean from Black Flag. In this location, Shay will be able to navigate the frigid ice waters of the North Atlantic while discovering treasure and fending off Assassin raids on his ship.
Old Assassins and Templars will be Returning, with New Historical Figures Taking Both Sides
Assassin's Creed Rogue will feature the return of two Assassin characters we've met before. Black Flag's Adéwalé will be featured in the game as a wise, older man. In contrast, AC3's Achilles Davenport will star in the game as his younger self, though he is still considered a great Mentor for the Brotherhood. On the Templar side, Haytham Kenway looks to be a large part of the narrative, having just established the Templar Order in the American colonies.
A handful of historical figures are being introduced into the narrative, as well. Louis-Joseph Gaultier de La Vérendrye, a well-known explorer thought to be among the first Europeans to lay eyes on the Rocky Mountains, has joined up with the Assassins in Rogue. Another famous explorer, Christopher Gist, will also be featured in the game, though he'll be on the side of the Templars. Gist is known as one of the first white men to explore the land that would come to be the state of Ohio, and he serves Shay as first mate of the Morrigan. Finally, in one of the game's trailers, Haytham mentions a man named Colonel Monro, who could be an ally of the Templars. This figure is likely George Monro, a British officer whose famous military loss is catalogued in the novel The Last of the Mohicans.
