The first expansion for next-gen action RPG Lords of the Fallen will launch later this winter under the title Ancient Labyrinth.
The upcoming DLC will add more puzzle-based gameplay to the RPG, IGN reported. The area the DLC is introducing, called The Library, will add a new layer to the existing hack-and-slash gameplay formula with little puzzles for the player to figure out in between bouts of fighting for his life against various demons. The expansion is also adding a new boss battle where the enemy will switch abilities throughout the encounter, forcing the player to keep on his toes.
All told, the expansion will add more than two new hours of gameplay, according to Eurogamer.
Ubisoft Releases System Requirements For Far Cry 4
Eurogamer also reported that Lords of the Fallen has officially shipped 700,000 copies to retailers, with about 200,000 units worth of sales. This means that Lords of the Fallen is officially turning a profit for publishers Bandai Namco and Square Enix, as the game only needed to ship 500,000 copies to make back its development costs.
Lords of the Fallen released last week for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC. The punishing action RPG gameplay, combined with the medieval setting and gloomy aesthetic, has drawn many comparisons to games like Dark Souls. The game follows the criminal Harkyn, who is released from prison so that he may help humanity fight off invading demons.
