Mario. Link. Pikachu. These are our video game mascots. The first two may have come first, but only the third gets a spot as a giant balloon during the annual Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade.
Nintendo Contemplating Ending Archaic Region Lock System On Wii U
Why Mario is not the star of the show is anyone's guess. However, this year, Nintendo and the Pokemon Company will be debuting a brand new Pikachu over the streets of New York City. This will mark the 15th time the little electric rodent has been included in the holiday parade.
This year's Pikachu balloon will be holiday-themed and features the giant rat carrying a Snowman Pikachu, as befitting the onset of the holiday season. So yes, we have reached...Pik-ception. If only that Snowman Pikachu were carrying a Pokeball with another Pikachu inside. Turtles all the way down.
Pokemon X And Y Patch 1.3 Released; New Pokemon Animations
Pikachu has been previously joined by other Pokemon, Zekrom and Reshiram for the parade.
In the official poster, seen here, I can pick out the Pillsbury Doughboy, Thomas the Tank Engine, Paddington Bear, all four Ninja Turtles (there in the lower corner), what I think is a Skylanders of some sort and a balloon centipede. I am also unsure what those little elf things are.
And still no Super Mario? For shame! You have Jake and Finn from Adventure Time, and Toothless from How To Train Your Dragon! Yet one of the most iconic characters in the world has never made an appearance? There's a new Smash Bros game coming out, now is the perfect time. Come on, Nintendo, get on that!
You can see the new Pikachu and all the others live on Thanksgiving, Thursday, November 27. Pokemon Alpha Sapphire and Omega Ruby comes out a week earlier on November 21.
