In celebration of the start of Paris Game Week, Square Enix has debuted a new trailer for the latest entry into the long-running series, Final Fantasy Type-0 HD.
Listen To The Stunning Assassin's Creed Unity Soundtrack!
The trailer asks fans to 'Enter the Fray' as a member of Class 0, 14 students from an elite military academy who are, naturally, called on to save their city from a villainous invading force. Adults have very little place in the FF series, after all.
The very first thing one notices about the trailer is how incredibly violent it is. The first shot is that of a dying teenager slumped against his mount, both bleeding, both crying. The color palette is very earthy, browns, dark, like mud, the kind of mud that is created in battle. Much of the trailer serves as a quick historical overview of the world of Orience and the four crystal nation states and serves as an excellent primer for those who did not play the PSP original.
Final Fantasy XIV Patch 2.4 Dreams Of Ice Released
We had a chance to play Type-0 HD recently and must say that it plays well, it certainly does not feel like a simple port. This is a legitimate remake through and through. It felt very much like a new Final Fantasy game, the pace was quick, the action breathless and what little story we were privy to seemed more grounded. Type-0 looks to be more Final Fantasy XII than Final Fantasy XIII. Which is absolutely not a bad thing. XII is one of the most underrated gems of the series, that had the unfortunate history of being released between X and XIII (XI was Square's first foray into online gaming for the series).
Final Fantasy Type-0 HD hits shelves next year on March 17 for $59.99 for PS4 and Xbox One. If you pre-order the game on Amazon or other retailers, you will gain access to the Final Fantasy XV demo, also on PS4 and Xbox One.
