What's better than playing a multiplayer game where you team up to shoot down a group of dinosaurs running wild? A game where you play as a group of dinosaurs running wild and eating armed opponents. Thankfully, Primal Carnage: Extinction for the PlayStation 4 will let you do both.
Primal Carnage: Extinction lets you discover what would happen if Jurassic Park were less about horror and character development and more about armed mercenaries challenging the escaped dinos to a variety of popular competitive multiplayer game modes. The game, set to release in early 2015, will let players choose to play as either the gun-toting humans or ravenous dinosaurs as they compete in your standard multiplayer fare: team deathmatch, control points and capture the flag.
In the original Primal Carnage, a 2012 PC game, the two factions were split into five classes each. Dinosaur players could play as tank-y units like the Tyrannosaurus or support units like the airborne Pteranodon. Human players could choose from one of five pretty standard FPS classes, like the sniper or the ever-present soldier with an assault rifle.
Dragon Ball Xenoverse PC Specs Announced
Extinction is being announced a year after the planned narrative-based sequel Primal Carnage: Genesis was put indefinitely on hold. Now under the new developmental management of Circle 5 Studios, the Primal Carnage name is heading back to its multiplayer roots with this PS4 edition. Though the developers say that Genesis is not necessarily off the table for good, Extinction is still the only priority at the moment.
Primal Carnage: Extinction is set to hit PlayStation 4 systems early next year.
