LucasArts Classics Released On GOG.com: TIE Fighter, X-Wing, Sam & Max Hit The Road Now Available, Over 20 More Titles Coming Via New Disney Deal

GOG.com Partners With Disney To Bring Classic LucasArts Titles To Digital: TIE Fighter, X-Wing, Sam & Max Now Available

Children, gather round. This a story of the dark times, before the Menace. We called it the Drought, and it lasted 16 years, from 1983 to 1999. There were no Star Wars movies, just endless rumors or rereleases. We contented ourselves by endlessly running the Death Star or tagging AT-ATs on Hoth. We waited, oh how we waited.

Then in 1994, our patience was rewarded. X-Wing and TIE Fighter, two of the finest games from the LucasArts era, were released. Now finally after two decades, an entire prequel trilogy, endless shows, spinoffs and even an all new saga coming next year, the two greatest Star Wars games are returning to us.

GOG.com  has released newly optimized versions of both the X-Wing and TIE Fighter special editions (with better graphics, sounds, all expansions, and more digital goodies) for $10.

The good times do not stop in a galaxy far, far away.

"We are very excited to be able to bring these classic interactive titles to our platform; it has been a long-time dream of ours," said Guillaume Rambourg, Managing Director at GOG.com. "Luckily, Disney Interactive is always looking for new ways to give players access to content, so this was a natural collaboration. To those gamers playing these titles for the first time...May the Force Be With You!"

Here's the full list of games currently available, although over 20 more titles are coming as part of their team-up with Disney Interactive and LucasFilm.

- Star Wars: X-Wing Special Edition (first time available!)
- Star Wars: TIE Fighter Special Edition (first time available!)
- Sam & Max Hit the Road (first time available!)
- The Secret of Monkey Island: Special Edition
- Indiana Jones and the Fate of Atlantis
- Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic

You can head over to GOG.com and pick up everything right now. Looking over the list, it's crazy how influential LucasArts was during the formative years of so many of us. The drought between Star Wars films was long and at the end, our thirst was not parched.

But we always had these games and can't wait to jump back in. Which classic games do you want to see next?
