While it's true that Grand Theft Auto V's launch on PC, PS4 and Xbox One is primarily the first chance to own the game on the new consoles, the ports are also getting a substantial graphics upgrade, with at least the PS4 edition boasting full HD.

The remake looks definitively superior to the original game, and a feature in the upcoming issue of the Official PlayStation Magazine (as reported by VG24/7) reveals that the PS4 version will run in 1080p.
"Glimmering 1080p presentation, hugely increased draw distance, 100 new songs, fresh wild-life, a bumper version of GTA Online, this is sandbox you've dreamt about ever since you slotted Sony's angular baby under your TV," the magazine states.

"Farewell 720p. You served your purpose adequately enough. Still, our eyes have been gagging over 1080p's pin-sharp pleasure and the Los Santos sandbox is only too happy to oblige on PS4, running at a native 1920 x 1080 pixels."
Obviously, the PlayStation Magazine does not mention the Xbox One version of Grand Theft Auto V, which may or may not also offer 1080p. The Xbox One has fallen short of offering the same resolution as PS4 for several multi-platform titles in the past, but removing the Kinect has given the system more power to work with.
VG24/7 correctly notes that there's no guarantee the 1080p resolution will make it to launch from the build used in the feature, but that's the latest word. We may hear confirmation one way or the other before launch, which will arrive on November 18.
