Microsoft revenues are up on the back of a strong sales increase, according to the company's latest financial report.
Amazon Posts Massive Loss In Last Quarter
The earnings release for Q1 of the new fiscal year claims a revenue of $23.20 billion. That increase represents a 25 percent increase since this time last year, and product sales are the driving force behind the upswing.
The Surface Pro 3, unveiled and release last year, helped nearly double the amount of revenue for the Surface series from the previous year. The device was positively received, and Microsoft is no doubt pleased to see its significant development and marketing investments in the product line pay off.

Office 365 was the other main factor in the Devices and Consumer revenue increase (up 47 percent as a whole). The cloud version of the Microsoft Office suite, able to be used across platforms with the subscription, now has seven million members--25 percent growth over last quarter. The subscription pricing model was a departure from the traditional method of purchasing Office, but Microsoft's push for the cloud transition seems to be a success so far.
The launch of the new Xbox has boosted console sales as well, naturally. New consoles only launch every half dozen to 10 years, and the Xbox One's introduction to the market (particularly while the Xbox 360 is still selling) 102 percent to 2.4 million.
