Smite's newest goddess is finally out in the open, and while we don't yet have all the details of her kit, we have some slick concept art to get us ready for Nox, Roman goddess of the night.
The Last New God Was Also Roman, The Forest God Sylvanus
Based on the concept art revealed on Twitter, Nox's design shares some elements with her daughter Nemesis, specifically the mask that obscures the character's eyes. Nox's design then takes an elegant turn with what looks like a ballroom theme. With a floor-length gown and a candelabra in one hand, Nox looks more ready to take in an opera than go toe-to-toe with Thor.
Nox's role in gameplay is still up for speculation. Her design looks more in-line with mages, but the theme of "goddess of the night" would play very well with a kit more fit for an assassin. Seeing as how her two children that are already in the game – Nemesis and Thanatos – are assassins, it would make sense for Nox to join them in that role as well.
The Last Patch Didn't Bring A New God, But It Brought A New Look For Bakasura
The Smite fanbase has been abuzz for the last week or so with news of Nox. Her addition into the game wasn't the tightest kept of secrets. Debate soon cropped up about why the Roman version Nox was being used instead of the much more recognized Greek version, Nyx. Popularity aside, though, the game's Greek pantheon is still easily the largest. The developers at Hi-Rez are likely happy just to be able to beef up the god lineups of other civilizations.
More details about the character are set to be revealed at the end of the day today, when we'll learn more about Nox's abilities and strengths.
Smite is free to play for PC.
