Now, it may seem like the artists over at the Pokemon company basically take two creatures and mash em together, but I can assure you there is real craft at work. I mean, have you ever tried to draw Pikachu, the second most recognizable character in the world (after Mickey)? Take a moment and try it out.
Harvest Moon: The Lost Valley Launch Trailer
Back? That was a bit more difficult than you imagined, wasn't it? Well, good thing you're still here then because I am here to tell you that Pokemon Art Academy is launching tomorrow, October 24 on the 3DS (or 2DS). The family friendly title will offer lessons to players of all ages who wish to draw a good number of the nearly 700 current Pokemon. Start with the basics, and then evolve your skill.
"Pokémon Art Academy makes it easy for people of all ages to learn to draw their favorite characters," said Scott Moffitt, Nintendo of America's executive vice president of Sales & Marketing. "It's another example of how Nintendo maximizes the capabilities of its hardware systems to deliver smiles and compelling experiences to consumers in unique ways."

"Starting with novice lessons that teach simple line drawing and coloring, you will eventually learn more advanced techniques like shading and light sourcing, using all sorts of tools like colored pencils, markers and pastels. After graduating from the academy, you'll gain access to a special set of lessons that include Mega-Evolved Pokémon."
Naturally, what is an artist without an audience? The game makes sharing your works on the Miiverse easier than ever before.
But wait, there's more! Anyone who purchases Pokémon Art Academy via the eShop will receive a code to download the free Pokémon Omega Ruby and Pokémon Alpha Sapphire Special Demo Versions. Available while supplies last. The next iteration of the fighting franchise drops November 21.
You can pick up Pokemon Art Academy tomorrow via the eShop for the suggested price of $29.99.
Good drawing out there. See you in the Miiverse.
