To celebrate Halloween this year, the developers behind Smite are offering players a full weekend to try out every character in the game's 58-god lineup, along with a chance to earn some other benefits.
Bakasura's Remodel, God Balancing And More In The Latest Smite Patch
The special October event, called The Reaping, starts today and runs through Sunday for a weekend filled with unfettered god combat. For players who don't spend any money in the game, Smite contains five gods that are permanently available for use and a rotating collection of five more gods that allows that rest of the characters to cycle through and become free to play for a limited time. With this free weekend, players can have the chance to try out any god in the game's roster and find which one suits their playing style the best.
This way, players can try out gods they might not have had the chance to play before in a no-risk environment. If they find a god they really like, they can always go purchase him once the event ends with the added confidence that they already know what kind of character they're paying for.
Beyond unlocking all the gods, The Reaping also doubles the amount of worshippers players receive after completing a match. Additionally, a player's First Win of the Day will net him or her an exclusive Jack-O-Lantern icon in the spirit of the season.
Smite's newest update brought a redesign of the Hindu demon Bakasura and some helpful UI changes to the game's Spectator mode. It also helped to nerf Sylvanus, the Roman forest god that got his Smite debut in the previous patch.
Smite is free to play for the PC.
