Apple stressed the new form factor of the iPad Air 2 first and foremost, boasting about the new level of slimness--18 percent thinner than the first iPad Air. It's just 6.1mm, the world's thinnest, and stacking two of the devices together is still less thick than original iPad.
The pricing comes in at the same as the same base price as the original iPad Air, starting at $499 for the WiFi 16 GB version. The 64 GB edition is $599, followed up by the $699 128 GB model (cellular versions add $130 to the prices).
Though Apple led with the new shape, it's not the only benefit the device will bring: the guts are improved in just about every way you'd expect, and it boasts Touch ID. The new A8X chip is at the heart of the improvements, boasting a 40 percent faster CPU and a 2.5 times faster GPU with its second-generation 64-bit architecture.
Work has been put into making the display less reflective, and Apple claims it's the least reflective display on the market. The camera has been upgraded, too, and is now an 8MP iSight. The WiFi is 2.8 times faster than the previous iPad Air, and LTE is quicker at 150mbps.
Apple also announced the iPad Mini 3, though not nearly as much time was invested into discussing its features. As expected, though, its sleeker and faster than the previous model, and will begin at $399. The additional storage pricing follows the same format as the iPad Air's, and the original iPad mini is now just $249.
