The levee has broken, and Warner Bros. has officially released its flood of planned DC comics movies to the public. In a press release published today, Warner Bros. set up a timeline for the next six years of DC movies. This plan includes solo movies as well as team movies, so let's go through the years one by one to see what Warner Bros. has in store for us.
Hands-On With Lego Batman 3: Beyond Gotham
2016
The first year in DC's master plan will start with Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. This rivalry movie will feature a return of Man of Steel's Henry Cavill as Superman and Ben Affleck's Batman debut. Following that is a movie that few thought would happen but that fans are no doubt glad to see come to light. Suicide Squad will be released in 2016 as well. For those not in the know, DC's Suicide Squad is a collection of villains that undertake secret, deniable operations for the U.S. government in exchange for lighter prison sentences.
The current iteration of this team includes members like Black Manta, Deathstroke, Deadshot and Harley Quinn, though we don't know who will be present for the movie adaptation.
DC Announces Mortal Kombat X Comic Book
2017
This year marks Wonder Woman's solo debut as she gets her own, self-titled movie starring Fast & Furious veteran Gal Gadot. Later that year, fans will finally get the chance to see the Justice League movie they've all been waiting for when Justice League Part One (nothing more than a working title, we can only hope) hits theaters, directed by Zack Snyder.
2018
The Flash will start off this year with his own movie. The Fastest Man Alive will be played by Ezra Miller, known for his work in Perks of Being a Wallflower. In the second half of the year, Aquaman will be played by Khal Drogo himself, Jason Momoa, in the Atlantean king's solo movie.
2019
The first movie of this year will be the Shazam solo movie. Unlike what they did for the previous films, Warner Bros. did not confirm a lead actor for this movie, though Dwayne Johnson has confirmed over Twitter that he will be taking up the role of antagonist Black Adam. Later that year, Zack Snyder will be back to direct Justice League Part Two.
2020
Finally, 2020 will bring comic book fans the Cyborg movie starring Ray Fisher, who by that point will have been in several of the larger DC movies that came out in the previous years. Finally, 2020 will end with another Green Lantern movie as DC gives the IP another go in the hopes that nine years will be enough for fans to forget about Ryan Reynolds' brief stint as Hal Jordan.
