If you log into World of Warcraft today, you may find yourself inundated with a wealth of new content. In addition to the new Iron Tide patch, which went live today, all accounts have also been updated with all four previous expansions. Even if you never purchased them beforehand, you have access to the Burning Crusade, Wrath of the Lich King, Cataclysm and Mists of Pandaria.

The move is in anticipation of the upcoming Warlords of Draenor expansion due out in November. WoW is, literally, an entirely different game from its release ten years ago, I imagine this is Blizzard's way of putting all players onto the same footing. And even if you're like me and have successfully kicked the habit for many years now (three years clean and sober!), you can pre-order Warlords of Draenor and automatically boost one character to level 90. So you don't even have to wait to play the new content when it arrives next month.
Patch 6.0.2 also brings new character models for each of the races on both Alliance and Horde factions. A new premade LFG feature, which allows for a little more personalization when it comes to creating PUG raids and runs. Group leaders can now see who is joining and vote yay or nay. Where was this feature years ago?

The Iron Horde, the new super team of Orcish clans formed by a time traveling Garrosh Hellscream to prevent the demonic possession of the Orcs of Draenor by the Burning Legion, are invading Azeroth via the Black Portal and now you can head to the updated Blasted Lands to take them on. The new event also features a revamped Upper Black Rock Spire (UBRS) for a limited time for level 90 characters.
The total amount of new content arriving with the patch is legion. You can read the whole list of patch notes at the official World of Warcraft site.
Whatever Blizzard is doing, they're doing it well. Subscription numbers, while not at the high of 12 million, have climbed back up to a still staggering 7.4 million. People are very excited about Draenor in a way they have not been about any expansion in a long, long time. We'll see if it is worth it come November 13.
