Call Of Duty: Advanced Warfare Players Can Get A Free Next-Gen Upgrade, Season Pass And DLC Available To Transfer Until April

Call Of Duty: Advanced Warfare Is Offering Last-Gen Players A Free Next-Gen Upgrade Until April

If you're planning on picking up Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare at launch next month but don't plan on upgrading to a next-gen console until the holiday season or later, you're in luck. You won't have to resign yourself to buying a new copy for your new machine because Activision is offering a free next-gen upgrade for all digital purchases of the game.

Analysts Predict Advanced Warfare Will Sell Fewer Units Than Ghost, Though A Lack Of Competition From Battlefield Will Help

Any last-gen digital copy of Advanced Warfare purchased before the end of March is eligible for a free digital download of the next-gen version. The offer is specific to each console company, so Xbox 360 owners can only upgrade to the Xbox One version, and PlayStation 3 owners can only upgrade to the PlayStation 4 version.

Don't worry about losing your hard-earned progress, either. As long as your Xbox Gamertag or PSN ID remains the same between last-gen and next-gen consoles, your multiplayer stats, DLC and season pass all transfer over, free of charge.

Once players upgrade, they'll even still be able to play the game on their last-gen machine (assuming they can think of a reason they'd want to do that). The player's Gamertag or PSN ID will keep the licenses for both versions of the game. As a special addition, Sony announced that the game is eligible for PlayStation cross-buy, meaning a purchase of the PS4 version will also net buyers the PS3 version of the game.

Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare will hit consoles and PC on November 4. Players can also purchase a "Day Zero" edition of the game, which will give them access to the next generation of CoD a full 24 hours in advance on November 3.
