Create Your Own Favorite Game With Project Spark, Out Now With New Trailer And Screens

Project Spark has finally shuffled out of beta and is bringing its suite of game creation tools to the Xbox One and PC.

Xbox One Sells 100,000 Units In China During Its First Week, Becoming The First Major Console In The Country In 14 Years

In Project Spark, players are able to create and share their own game environments using the tools that the game provides. Besides creating gorgeous levels and landscapes with easy to use controls, players can customize how their environments act by assigning behaviors to their level's elements.

The game can now be downloaded for free from the Xbox website, but Microsoft is also releasing a physical starter pack, which is available from retail outlets. The $40 pack comes with a co-op game mode that players can play through to learn more about the concepts introduced by Project Spark. The pack also comes with a one-month premium, which lets players earn twice as many in-game credits through gameplay that can be used to purchase items from the game's store.

DirectX 12 Coming With Windows 10

The launch trailer for Project Spark highlights some of the games that beta players have already produced. Everything from Minecraft to Flappy Bird to what looks like an adorably cartoonish version of Titanfall can be created using Project Spark, and the trailer provides many more examples than that.

The game's launch screens show off the kind of art style that this game is bringing to the PC and Xbox One. The grand scales that this game is capable of make for a very adventurous atmosphere, while the decidedly cartoony art style keeps the game grounded in a light-hearted tone. A variety of lighting options shown also make for several different available moods, letting wannabe game creators pick whichever one gives their game the best atmosphere.

Project Spark was one of the first games that Microsoft showed off back during the Xbox One's original reveal. It's been a long wait, but the game should prove to be a worthy addition to the sandbox genre.
