The latest trailer for Assassin's Creed Unity focuses on the game's storyline – and the kind of manipulative historical figures that Arno will get to rub elbows with along the way.
The trailer confirms a couple of things about protagonist Arno's backstory and reminds us of some elements that we knew before but might have forgotten. Arno's father was an Assassin who was cut down when Arno was still young. As a young man, Arno is thrown into prison where he meets a man that trains him to fight.
As we could have expected from last week's revealed in-game cinematic, this man is the one who introduces Arno to the Assassin Brotherhood, and he looks to be a central part of the story throughout the game. Speaking of the Brotherhood, the organization of the Assassins looks more similar to how it was when players were running around as Ezio. Though the past few Assassin's Creed games have spent time in the New World, where the Brotherhood is much more loosely organized, the return to Europe in Unity marks a return to grand Assassin councils, large bases of operations and ritualistic ceremonies, as the trailer shows.

The trailer also introduces fans to the historical figures that Arno will meet in his adventures during the French Revolution. Infamous dictator Napoleon Bonaparte makes an appearance, and he appears to be getting friendly with Arno as well. Reign of Terror ringleader Maximilien de Robespierre also shows up, seemingly as an enemy to both Arno and his Templar girlfriend Elise. Finally, the trailer introduces the Marquis de Sade, renowned free love advocate, erotica writer and namesake of the word "sadism."
He seems like a fun guy to have on your party list.
Assassin's Creed Unity will launch for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC on November 11.
