The fifth and final installment of the Lords of War animated series, which highlights several of the NPCs you will encounter in the Warlords of Draenor expansion, has finally been uploaded. The latest short moves away from the foes of the Iron Horde and focuses on the Draenei paladin who knows so much about them.
Maraad, one of the guiding members of Draenei society, is a creature full of regret. There are no happy origin stories within the World of Warcraft, and absolutely none on the realm of Draenor. A paladin, he is sworn to uphold the light but as the Lords of War film shows, he is still haunted by the times he had forsaken that brightness.
Maraad narrates his own tale which takes place during the First Orc invasion of Draenor and the sacking Shattrath, the Draenei home city. The Orcs, under the influence of the Burning Legion's bloodlust were ruthless; but at least they had no choice. Mannoroth's magic was simply too much. But what of Maraad and his vengeance? What excuse does he have?
Blizzard Officially Cancels Project Titan
But, as King Anduin points out, everyone is troubled by their past, but so few have a chance to change it. The story of Warlords of Draenor will revise the history of the Warcraft universe, not unlike how the introduction of the Draenei slightly altered the cosmology before the release of The Burning Crusade many, many years ago.
The paladin "agreed to help lead the forces of the noble Alliance as they stood against the impending invasion. Now, Maraad has a chance to come to terms with the tragedy of his past. He intends to fulfill his vow, not only to save the innocent, but also to execute vengeance on everyone who caused him and his people so much heartache."
Fun fact, Maraad watches over me at the office. You can purchase his Series 2 figure here.
Warlords of Draenor, the fifth expansion to World of Warcraft, arrives on November 13. Watch Maraad's story below.
