The recent Clash of Clans update introduced the Lava Hound unit which significantly changed how air attacks work. But let's face it, there's still something innately satisfying about just sending in the infantry to mow down the enemy base.

To that end, Youtuber Galadon has been releasing a series of videos focusing on the GoWiPe attack, one of the preferred methods of ground combat as you get to the higher levels of gameplay. The name derives itself from the Golem, the Wizard and the PEKKA units which primarily make up the attacking force.

Most assaults at the higher levels aren't farming runs, they are initiated with the sole purpose of razing the town hall and getting your clan the much needed stars to move up in the ranks. To that end, the latest Galadon video goes into some of the finesse and strategizing players should consider when attempting to level a Town Hall.

Super Smash 3DS Tournament Announced

First and foremost, it is important to remember that troops "follow a trail of breadcrumbs" according to Galadon, which essentially means they'll travel the path of least resistance to the nearest unwalled structure. This is why you generally send in the Wizards to quickly destroy the surrounding structures, the mines, collectors and camps for instance, before deploying your King and Queen. You need those last two to make as direct a line for the town hall as possible. And there are far too many distractions on a fully upgraded town to make that work from the get go.

Second, timing. A well placed Jump spell can be the difference between victory, defeat or between getting one star or two. The two pieces of advice overlap one another a lot; a Jump spell is utterly useless if all the troops are just attacking this and that with no coordination.

It is an interesting combat system, the lack of unit control one might find in say, Starcraft. Clash of Clans is a patient game, both in the building and upgrading of structures, some of which can take weeks to complete and in devising your offense strategies. Like a coach on a sports team, you can only set your guys up and hope they follow the playbook. Because once the game starts, you have precious little control over how it all plays out.

Watch Galadon's video below and take the advice to heart.
