Apple Releases iOS 8.0.2 Update: Fixes Bugs With iPhone 6 Cell Service And Touch ID, iOS 8 HealthKit Apps

Apple Released An iOS Update To Fix The Bugs From Its Last iOS Update, iPhone 6 Devices Can Now Call People Again

Apple's newest update to iOS, version 8.0.2, went live today as Apple tries to fix not only the bugs of iOS 8 but also the more serious bugs brought on by update 8.0.1.

Apple Recalls iOS 8.0.1 Update, Tells Users To Reinstall Original iOS 8

According to the patch notes, this newest update fixes the bugs that caused iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus devices to lose both cell connectivity and Touch ID functionality. So not only would some iPhone 6 owners be locked out of their phones, but they wouldn't be able to call anyone if they did end up getting in.

iOS 8.0.2 also fixes many of the bugs that the previous update tried to correct. One of Apple's biggest advertised functions of iOS 8 was the new Health app and the HealthKit series of third-party apps that would be available to supplement this new feature. Up until this new update, though, HealthKit apps weren't showing up in Apple's App Store, a bug that should now be fixed. Also fixed were an issue where new third-party keyboards would deactivate upon entering a password, a bug that restricted photos in users' albums from third-party apps, a bug that caused users to experience increased data usage when getting texts and a bug that restricted Safari's ability to upload media.

What Was New In iOS 8

Nothing in the patch notes, however, says anything about the more talked about issues that users are having with iOS 8. Many users have reported increased battery drain and troubles with Wi-Fi connectivity after upgrading to Apple's newest mobile operating system.

iOS 8 was made available for free to anyone with an iOS 7-enabled device with the exception of the iPhone 4. Apple users who have yet to upgrade may want to wait a bit until all the wrinkles are ironed out. New iPhone 6 and 6 Plus owners, though, are stuck with the operating system, as it comes default on both of the new Apple smartphones.
