Assassin's Creed Unity News: Interactive Game Takes Fans Through Streets Of Paris With Andy Serkis, Offers Prize Givaways

Assassin's Creed Unity's New 'Project Widow' Interactive Game Lets You Explore Paris While Uncovering Trailers And Screens

Ubisoft launched a new interactive game today to keep the hype train rolling for Assassin's Creed Unity. The game has fans explore the streets of Paris and even includes several prize giveaways.

Named Project Widow – a sly reference to one of the original nicknames for the guillotine – the game itself basically has players navigating a Google Street View of modern-day Paris. The game takes them to several locations in the city that have significance both historically and in Unity like the Bastille and Notre Dame. At some points, players are able to move from the real streets of Paris into a scene rendered in Unity's engine before heading back out to the streets.

Looking around the 360-degree views, players can find buttons that reveal trailers for the game, screenshots, artwork or just additional information about the French Revolution. Clicking on these buttons counts as "recovering a memory," and the game keeps track of how many the player has uncovered out of the 119 total memories.

The game also keeps track of how quickly the revolution is spreading across Paris, which is just a way of counting how many fans have played the game or have shared it over social media. On it's first day, the game has already surpassed 10 percent of its goal, though it's not clear what happens when that counter reaches 100 percent.

As players explore, they might also come across one of six hidden competitions. Players can then enter these competitions they find for a chance to win prizes like a new Xbox One or Assassin's Creed gear. Unfortunately, only legal UK residents are eligible to win these prizes, but anyone is free to roam the streets of Paris and get a head start on immersing themselves in the revolutionary atmosphere of Assassin's Creed Unity. As an added bonus, the whole thing is narrated by Gollum himself, Andy Serkis, who plays an 18th-century French revolutionary.

Assassin's Creed Unity is set to his PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC systems on November 11.
