The PS Vita version of Minecraft is out to Sony for final testing, according to a tweet by Minecraft's console port developer 4J Studios, meaning there's a good chance we'll be getting a release date in the near future.
Minecraft PlayStation 4 Edition Will Be Available As More Than A Digital Download Come October
Sony's certification process can take anywhere from a couple days to maybe a couple weeks, so we can't know for sure how soon the Vita port will come out. But that fact that it's in Sony's hands means the release date is undeniably close, assuming they don't send the build back like they did with the PS4 port.
It's been a busy couple of months for Minecraft. Before the news broke that Microsoft would be picking up Mojang for a solid chunk of money, Minecraft was enjoying two new console ports, the Xbox One Edition and the PlayStation 4 Edition. The Vita version was always confirmed to be coming as well, but it was constantly lagging behind the two next-gen ports.

For PlayStation 3 owners, Sony has confirmed that it will be offering a cross-buy program for the Vita port. More information regarding that process should be coming shortly as well.
Other than finishing up the Vita port, 4J is also working on patching the new PS4 and Xbox One Minecraft versions, which have been out and about for a couple of weeks now. Both versions retail at $19.99, though existing last-gen players can upgrade for just $4.99.
