We are just eight days out from the Xbox One and PS4 release of Middle-Earth: Shadow of Mordor and we're about ready to explode. Even a new 30-second commercial, filled with footage we've mostly already seen before, gets us feeling all tingly.
Dragon Age: Inquisition Will Kick Your Ass
The new commercial touts the game's credentials like a (rightful) badge of honor. E3 awards, best in shows, anticipation galore. Everyone is excited to get their hands on the latest installment not simply in the Lord of the Rings game series, but into Tolkien's official canon as well. There is a lot unexplained between the events of The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings, a period in the books that spans roughly 65 years. Shadow of Mordor will hope to shed light on a few of the issues plaguing Middle-earth during those times.
Additionally, Monolith has released the entire 7 part behind the scenes series which chronicles the company's work from script to screen. The whole 22 minute documentary, which you can find here, is a well done look behind the curtain of game making. The one thing I am always struck with about these videos about game makers and other creative types is how they're just doing their job, same as you and me. Punching in, punching out. It just so happens that they're making cool stuff, and I'm writing thinly veiled toilet humor that inevitably gets edited out before being published.
Assassin's Creed Unity Season Pass Outlined
Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor comes out September 30 for Xbox One, PS4 and PC. The last-gen version will be made available come November. Watch the commercial below.
