Blizzard has released the fourth installment of their animated series Lords of War, which reveals some of the backstory of the many different Orc chieftains players will be interacting with in Warlords of Draenor, the next expansion for World of Warcraft.
Lords of War Part 3 Profiles Durotan
The latest video examines Kilrogg, leader of the Bleeding Hollow clan, and the namesake for the Warlock spell Eye of Kilrogg. Like many chieftains in the video series, Kilrogg was the son of a current clan chief who must stand on his own. In Kilrogg's case, that meant removing his own eye to bring forth a vision of the future, and his death. Time is a flat circle, he might say to us; and his story does bring into question the inevitability of fate in the WoW universe.
Kilrogg was one of the first orcs to drink the blood of the demon Mannoroth in the pre-WoW events of the Warcraft RTS series and was counted amongst one of the most savage and daring. He was slain in a solo combat with a human commander in Beyond the Dark Portal. Warlords of Draenor, however, will see him alive and well in the alternate timeline, having never drank the blood. He will rule over his people in the jungle of Tanaan.
You're Not That Bad At Hearthstone, Assures Devs
The lore behind the Warcraft universe is as rich and deep as is our own. The mythology extends back to pretty much the founding of Time itself. Little things like these, that bring out the world and the characters within it so well are just catnip to people like me.
Warlords of Draenor arrives on November 13. Watch the Kilrogg short below. Next week will bring us the fifth and final warchief of the Iron Horde.
